Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 16 June, 2015 - The International Surfing Association (ISA) joins forces with Surfrider Foundation to celebrate the 11th Annual International Surfing Day on Friday, June 19 from 12-2pm at Tourmaline Surfing Park in San Diego.

With the goal of giving back to the ocean and beaches while celebrating the sport of Surfing, the ISA is holding a beach cleanup at Tourmaline Surfing Park and encouraging participants to paddle out and take part in an expression session.

The celebration will be presided by San Diego resident and ISA President Fernando Aguerre.

“International Surfing Day is a great way for surfers to give back to the sport that has brought them so much joy,” said Aguerre. “The ocean is a fragile environment and we as surfers must set the example to take care of it. Let’s join together on June 19 and do our part!”

The festivities will be open to the public and are set to take place from 12-2pm with coffee, snacks and surfboards provided by the following local retailers: Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, Bird Rock Surf Shop and Amazona Acai Café.

Headquartered in San Diego, CA, the ISA is dedicated to giving back and growing the international Surfing community. The ISA is actively seeking inclusion of Surfing in the Pan American Games and the Summer Olympics.

Each year the ISA awards upward of 50 ISA Individual Scholarships to surfers who demonstrate economic need, in order to facilitate growth in Surfing while encouraging the importance of education. Similarly, the ISA hosts educational programs around the world in the areas of Judging & Officiating, Coaching & Instructing, Surf School Accreditation and Adaptive Surfing.

For the first time, the ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship will take place in La Jolla, CA from September 24-27. This will mark the first-ever World Championship event for adaptive surfers and will allow nations from around the world a united platform to celebrate the sport surfing.
